Spring Cleaning

Spring has come early in Arizona!

And I LOVE spring - it is my favorite season. I love to see the blossoms on the fruit trees and the trees and grass turning green. Birds chirp and the air turns absolutely perfect!

This week is Spring Break for our kids, but we are calling it "Spring Work". Not much break about it. We are busy! I wrote up on our white board all of the projects we are going to get done this week. We are doing lots of yard work and cleaning up outside. We are doing some major spring cleaning and I just love it! Even the kids are enjoying seeing the fruit of their labors. Whining and complaining are at a minimum and it is wonderful.

But now is also a great time to do some spring cleaning for yourself.

Last month I started a detox with Dr. Sara Gottfried.
You can find more information here. She includes TONS of information and help along the way. I cut out red meat, sugar, dairy, and gluten. She explains why they cause problems for our health. I learned about other toxins that destroy our health, like the things we put on our body (make-up, lotion) or the people we are around. Dr. Sara does this detox twice a year, so go sign up to get on the list for the next one in the fall.

I also LOVE the information from JJ Virgin.

I haven't purchased her book (yet), but all of the information you get if you sign up is unbelievable! She also talks about eliminating certain foods because of food allergies. The things we crave most are probably the things that our bodies are sensitive to. Bummer!

Is there something that you know you just couldn't live without? Sugar maybe? Or maybe it's gluten? Maybe both!

With so many diseases and health problems today, it is a scary place.

But, knowledge is power. The more you know, the better choices you can make.

No two people are the same. What works for you might not work for your friend. It's all about self awareness. Pay attention and listen to your body.

Keep a food journal. Record how your body reacts to what you are eating. And stop eating the foods that are harming you. Take a week - two - or three! Do a cleanse. Do a detox.

Our bodies are amazing! Our bodies are trying to talk to us and the only way they can do that is through pain. Pain isn't normal, but it is good. Pay attention and figure out what is causing it. Get to the cause.

Do some spring cleaning and you will feel SO much better!

Make a goal and set a reward. No, pigging out after a 7 day detox is not a reward - think new shoes, a vacation, a trip to the spa, etc. I'm going to go set me some goals!

my mom is the best mom in the whole entire world, so you should do what she says because she is always right!

(Post-edit note: I had a couple of girls proof-read this post. Kyla insisted I leave her note at the end. I think this could come in handy in the future! :)
